Liquid Lipsticks: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip Review And Swatches

My thoughts:

At only $5 Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks are so worth it. They have such a velvety texture, more smooth and velvety then Limecrimes 'Velvetines' which also give off more of an ultra matte finish, like its name.

However after a few hours of wear if you're not too used to matte lips this can get quite uncomfortable, and if you need to reapply then I would definitely suggest removing the whole lip and re-applying it again, or it can get very messy and uncomfortable.

The two that I have worn out is Beeper and Avenue. I was so disappointed in the shade 'beeper' as I was really looking forward to a mid toned brown nude (my fave shade) but on the lips it appeared more grey-toned on me, still it is beautiful but I just find it didn't suit me.

Avenue I wore to a wedding recently and it looked stunning! Deep burgundy red (looks darker once applied on the lips) and it lasted through eating, drinking, and didn't smear. (Picture posted below) I removed it after 5 hours of wear, it still looked effortless but was tugging on my lips a little. I wouldn't wear this one for any longer because removal made quite a mess and this shade in particular slightly transferred.

I'd like to try out a few more shades but I absolutely recommend these to a liquid lipstick lover like me, if you haven't really dabbled into liquid lipsticks then I wouldn't suggest starting out on these because they are so super matte, yet you can still use these and top it off a gloss on top if you like.

Summer Lipstick Shades

Bright Pinks, Corals & Fuchsia Lips <3

Although we all love our nudes, now's the time to step out and rock some bright lips in the blazing sun

Summer lipsticks

Personally I don't wear nothing apart from nude and neutral shades on  my lips, I just don't feel comfortable in anything that has an ounce of colour, esp red!! But now the suns out I really wanted to dig into my collection and swatch some brighter, bolder spring/summer shades so I can rock a few of them this summer.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - ABU DHABI ;x

Abu Dhabi: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

One of the oldest matte lipstick formula's in a 'liquidish' form, so how does it compare to the other higher & popular mousse/cream matte lip products?

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream: Abu Dhabi

What's the difference between standard liquid lipsticks & NYX soft matte lip cream?

The initial difference as most of you will be aware by the name of the product is in the formula. The Soft Matte Lip Cream has more of a moussey consistency, more comparable to Too Faced Melted, YSL Kiss & Blush & not far off from the texture of LA Splash Smitten Lip Tint Mousse. The difference in terms of 'how matte it is' &  the longevity in comparison to the other three products mentioned is that it's quite unique in terms of formula. It has more of a silicone texture, and is quite pigmented & buildable, it does take a short while to dry but dries quicker & more matte then the YSL & Too Faced lip product mentioned.

It's not quite as long lasting as the Smitten Lip Tint , but it can still fall into the liquid lipstick category, which I didn't quite expect it to. It has the same wear time as a very good matte lipstick, a few hours of wear & tear will make the product disappear, but don't worry you don't get that horrid 'white line effect' around your mouth.

Swatch of  Abu Dhabi Soft Matte Lip Cream

Although it's matte its not drying, nor sticky & smells like buttercream frosting. The shade Abu Dhabi reminds me of MAC Velvet Teddy...

Retailing between £6 - £8 I think it's worth picking up a few shades if you love matte lips. This product I would say targets liquid lipstick lovers & haters! It has the matte effect but not the overbearing dryness, it's an all rounder product with a vast shade range including nudes, neutrals, pinks, reds and deeper shades.

I love to pair Abu Dhabi with MAC Spice Lipliner, I use the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream first, and after a minute I use the lip liner around my lips just to give a subtle dimension to the lips

Kylie Jenner Lipliner Dupes

That mauvey/browney 90s lip has given everyone life, here's what I use on a daily basis to achieve that full pout

Mac Soar, Whirl lipliner dupes

Nude, neutral lipliner swatches

Rimmel Addiction is a creamstick liner which as its title suggest is a very creamy smooth lipliner. It's colour is also the closest to MAC's Whirl & Dervish

Jordana Tawny is also a creamstick liner, I pair this mainly with Nars Anita & I love the resulting shade

Rimmel Cappuccino may look dark & scary but just the slightest pressure used to line the lips after you apply your lipstick gives maximum fullness. (In a future blogpost I'll display how natural it can look) works great with more paler lipstick shades too

MAC Nude/Neutral Lipstick

MAC Kinda Sexy..

Everyone has some kind of weird obsession with MAC lipsticks, so here's my latest addition compared with my other Neutral / Nude toned Mac lipsticks

Mac Jubilee lustre finish, Shy Girl cremesheen finish, Kinda Sexy matte finish, Cosmo amplified finish & Angel frost finish
